Cognitive Retraining For Acquired Brain Injuries

A Talented Mind’s Cognitive Lifestyle Program helps families enhance the quality of life, learning, and performance of family members impacted by an acquired brain injury, aging, or illness.

The program provides personalized cognitive retraining to strengthen the mental abilities of family members to better perform in areas important to their life. We work collaboratively with clients, families, caregivers, health care professionals, and educators to create a specialized program to retrain clients’ mental processes to improve their every-day lives.  Because an acquired brain injury impacts the entire family, we also help families explore ways to support the needs of all members as they forge a new life together following a brain injury.

Family Support

We provide programs to help families better address everyone’s needs after an acquired brain injury in order to create a supportive environment:

Analysis of Cognitive Environment: Assessment and recommendations to improve a client’s home environment so it best supports cognitive abilities.

Brain Injury Family Intervention: Program that helps families address the emotional needs of all members as they adjust to life after a brain injury.

Cognitive Retraining Family Intervention: Program that teaches families to use basic cognitive retraining methods, strategies, and tools at home to support someone with a brain injury.

Art4Healing: Program that helps families use the language of color and shapes to express their emotions after a brain injury.

Cognitive Retraining

Our cognitive retraining program helps clients build awareness and acceptance, exercise mental abilities, learn new strategies and tools, and practice in real-live situations:

Awareness and Acceptance Builder: Assessment and process to help clients increase their awareness of how an acquired brain injury has impacted their life and better accept their new normal.

Multi-Dimensional, Cognitive Retraining: Program that helps clients retrain cognition to improve areas of their life through mental process exercises, cognitive strategies and tools, and lifestyle planning in our clinic and at home.

ImPACT Concussion Testing: Neuro-cognitive testing to evaluate the impact of a concussion on cognition, and to assist doctors in concussion management and progress monitoring.

Education

We provide education designed to help clients, caregivers, and teachers make needed adjustments after an acquired brain injury:

Journey Back From Chemobrain Workshop and Workbook: Cancer patients and caregivers learn every-day methods to address the cognitive challenges patients experience called Chemobrain. The workshop is conducted through a partnership with the CJW Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital and The Hawthorne Cancer Resource Center. You can buy the Journey Back From Chemobrain Workbook separately at our Online Store.

BrainSTARS Workshop for Teachers: Teachers learn how an acquired brain injury impacts children’s lives, learning, and development, and ways to adjust the learning environment for them.

Hero’s Journey Education Group: Weekly education group for adults with acquired brain injuries that provides Adventures, Challenges, and Insights to help them adjust after a brain injury.
