What the Mind Creates: Strong, enduring friendships I am always amazed at what our minds create within us and in the world around us. The mind’s ability to create strong emotions, feelings and bonds with others we enjoy (and not) adds tremendously to our lives. The following quote from jazz great James Moody about his friendship with Dizzy Gillespie emphasizes the strong bond that can be created between like minds.  Jazz Saxophonist James Moody, on his close relationship with Dizzy Gillespie: “For the longest time, I used to call my wife — I used to call Linda, my honey, and tell her, ‘Honey, I called you and you weren’t home.’ You know?  She says, ‘Honey, I’ve been home all day.’ I said, ‘Well, but I called’ — and then I’d say the number.  And she’d say, ‘Honey, that’s Dizzy’s number.’ ” Moody died on Thursday.
